Efficient production planning and control is in principle heavily dependent on precise and forward-looking maintenance planning. Based on sufficient data quality, machine failures should be correctly predicted in order to initiate necessary countermeasures such as rescheduling or rescheduling of orders as quickly as possible. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are often unable to maintain such a database due to limited resources and the non-economic retrofitting of existing machines. Therefore, the goal of the joint project "BaSys4iPPS" is to develop a method for integrated production and maintenance planning for machine tools in the inventory of SMEs and to implement it using the BaSys reference architecture. This scenario will be tested on real machine tools of Lauscher Präzisionstechnik GmbH. This should enable a significant reduction of unexpected production downtimes and a significant increase in planning reliability.

The project is to be attached to the existing BaSys 4.0/BaSys 4.2 joint project as a satellite project. In these, the BaSys system of the joint project or the available open source variant BaSyx will be used in application-oriented projects and relevant project results will be fed back as updates. Against this background, central developments for the further development of BaSyx will also be made available as open source.
