As part of the nationwide Week of Hydrogen, a group of students visited the IFW and its partner institutes Puk and IFL at the CFK-Nord research site in Stade on 25.06.2025. The goal was to offer young people a hands-on insight into current hydrogen research and its practical applications.
Following a brief introduction to the work of the three institutes, the students enjoyed a varied program: In addition to gaining fascinating insights into ongoing research projects and innovative lightweight construction concepts in the context of hydrogen technology, they also got to take part in a hands-on experiment – building and launching small hydrogen rockets turned science into an experience.
“We are excited to inspire young people about technology and research, and to introduce them to the potential of hydrogen as an energy carrier in an engaging way,” said Dr. Carsten Schmidt, managing director, research group high performance production of CFRP-structures.
The Week of Hydrogen is an initiative aimed at making hydrogen-related projects and research in Germany more visible. With their work at the Stade site, the IFW and its partners are making an important contribution to the development of sustainable technologies for the future of mobility and energy supply.
