IFW Christmas Party 2025 – Cooperation Award goes to two winning teams for the first time

Nominees and winners of the Cooperation Award: Torben Hartje, Beate Legutko, Monika Dolakova, Gülüzar Erdogan, Felix Zender, Dennis Kowalke and Lena Rehbehn.

At the IFW Christmas party on 12 December 2025, special achievements were once again honoured and celebrated together. The focus was on the Cooperation Award, which recognises outstanding collaboration between students and research staff. The award is traditionally sponsored by the institute's alumni association and is endowed with 1,000 euros.

As usual, the celebration took place at the Fora Hotel Hannover, where a varied buffet kicked off the evening. With creative videos, presentations and humorous reviews, the IFW's research departments provided plenty of laughter and applause.

What made this year's Cooperation Award special was that, for the first time, two teams were honoured. Monika Dolakova and Beate Legutko, as well as Lena Rehbehn and Dennis Kowalke, were delighted to receive an early Christmas present.

This is how the two winning teams impressed the jury

Monika Dolakova and Beate Legutko impressed with their outstanding collaboration in the field of damage analysis of bimodular hip implants. Together, they developed an innovative image processing method that enables objective and quantitative evaluation of wear damage. The jury particularly praised their structured scientific approach and their significant contribution to the further development of implants, which will significantly reduce the probability of failure in the future.

Lena Rehbehn and Dennis Kowalke were recognised for their exceptional commitment and reliable, practical teamwork. Through Lena Rehbehn's dedicated work on several research and development projects and her spontaneous support at IFW events and special tasks, she contributed significantly to the success of projects in the field of sensory machine components and condition monitoring on machine tools, as well as other areas. The jury highlighted the team's high level of independence, willingness to take on responsibility and efficient collaboration.

After the award ceremony, the IFW staff rounded off the evening with cool drinks at the hotel bar – some continued celebrating late into the night.

Congratulations

The IFW congratulates all nominees and especially the two winning teams on their outstanding achievements and their significant contribution to the quality of research and training at the institute.
