The focus is on a hands-on approach: rather than just discussing technical solutions, the aim is to plan, build and test the solution yourselves, and ultimately present a demonstrable result. Participants will be supported by academic staff and experts from various institutes and companies.
The Makeathon begins with the formation of teams and a joint brainstorming session. The teams then tackle a technical challenge and develop their own solution within two days. This is complemented by a hands-on workshop, followed by the presentation of the results. One challenge might, for example, involve developing a temperature-controlled heating system using an Arduino, a temperature sensor and a heating element, under academic supervision.
As well as providing practical experience, the Makeathon offers the opportunity to make direct contact with companies, research institutes and student working groups. This can lead to valuable connections for future dissertations, student assistant roles or future careers. In addition, participants will receive 1 ECTS credit for taking part.
