Doktoranden-Retreat des Sonderforschungsbereichs „HyPo“ in Kaiserslautern

PhD Student Retreat of the Collaborative Research Centre “HyPo” in Kaiserslautern

At the end of February, PhD students from the Collaborative Research Centre “HyPo” – Multifunctional High-Performance Components from Hybrid Porous Materials – met at the RPTU in Kaiserslautern. The annual PhD student retreat traditionally combines professional exchange with further training. The aim of the event was to provide targeted further training for the PhD students in their research and to strengthen collaboration within the Collaborative Research Centre.

A central component of the retreat was the presentations of the sub-projects. The PhD students presented the current status of their work, discussed results and received valuable feedback from their colleagues. In addition, several laboratory tours provided insights into experimental setups and methods and fostered interdisciplinary exchange between the projects. Furthermore, a workshop on scientific writing provided practical skills on structuring academic texts, writing publications with a clear purpose, and navigating peer-review processes.

The retreat was rounded off by joint evening events and a team-building activity, which further strengthened informal exchanges. Mariem Ben Salem and Patricia Wessel attended on behalf of the Institute for Production Engineering and Machine Tools (IFW) and summed up: “The PhD retreat was a valuable platform for technical discussion, for further developing our own research, and for fostering collaboration within TRR 375.”
