Night that creates knowledge 2023

During the "Night that creates knowledge" the university opens its doors and shows what happens at the institutes besides the education of students. What do scientists do? What is being researched? Those questions will be answered in exciting guided tours, live experiments, lectures, hands-on activities and exhibitions.

What does the IFW offer?

Many products are manufactured by machining - for example milling. However, it is difficult to imagine what the machine and tool can achieve in the process. In an experiment, we show how much volume can be removed in a short time. We're also looking at the question: Is it possible for humans to be faster than machines?

Also on show: our mobile factory. Based on the production of a vehicle model, it demonstrates a wide range of possibilities for digitization in production. The technologies presented range from order tracking and the digital twin to fully networked production control. The plants exemplify the environment of a manufacturing company and illustrate the advantages of digitization solutions.
