|Titel:||Mechanical and thermal tool loads in dry diamond wire sawing of steel|
Due to its tool and process characteristics, diamond wire sawing is a highly flexible cut-off grinding process. It offers an unlimited cutting depth and length without limitations concerning the machinable workpiece material composition . As depicted in fig. 1, a diamond wire sawing tool consists of grinding segments with diameter ds and length ls that are mounted on a steel carrier rope in defined distances lt. Steel springs prevent displacement of the grinding seg-ments. An assembling compound is injected between the carrier rope and the grinding segments as well as the blank volume of the springs to ensure adhesion of the particular components. The wire ends are joined with a connector to create a loop of the requested length.
