Training for SME on the implementation of AI in production

The IFW offers expert training on the topic of "AI assistance systems in production"

In an increasingly digitalised business world, small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) are faced with the challenge of compensating for the lack of skilled workers, e.g. through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in production. To support this change, the IFW offers application-orientated workshops on AI assistance systems in production. These will enable SMEs to identify the potential of AI technologies and integrate them into their production processes.

The use of AI methods in production holds a wide range of potential for small and medium-sized enterprises.  For example, efficiency can be increased through optimized production processes or the identification of bottlenecks. Furthermore, the effort required for quality control can be minimized through virtual inspections. However, these methods are only implemented by a small proportion of SME. The main obstacles are a lack of clarity about the benefits and a shortage of experience in implementing specific AI projects. In addition, the costs of implementing AI applications are unclear and are often considered too high.

In order to overcome these challenges for SME, the IFW is offering expert training as part of the DAISEC (Digital Innovation Hub for AI & Cybersecurity). This is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises that have already gained initial experience with the use of data-driven software solutions in their production. It is particularly aimed at specialists and managers. In the approximately three-hour event, the IFW contributes its extensive know-how in the field of the application of artificial intelligence in production and conveys possible applications from production and process planning to production monitoring. It will show how AI can be used in production to automate processes, improve product quality, increase efficiency and reduce costs. It also provides guidance on how to identify potential fields of application for AI in production. In addition, the importance of high-quality data for the use of AI in production will be discussed and the necessary techniques for data preparation, analysis and integration will be taught. The event will be rounded off with practical demonstrations in the IFW test field. The format will initially be offered as an online webinar on 07.03.2024 and 06.06.2024. Further in-person events are planned for 2024.

The educational offerings will be supplemented by digital content such as learning nuggets and learning videos, which interested parties will soon be able to access on the DAISEC website. These will enable knowledge transfer regardless of time and place. Learning nuggets are small, interactive learning modules that take between one and three minutes to complete. They are therefore particularly suitable for low-threshold teaching of learning content.

Thanks to funding from the European Union as part of the "Digital Europe" program, all DAISEC offers are free of charge. Further information about the hub and its services can be found on the website at https://daisec.de/ or directly by email at info@daisec.de.
