With around 140 participants from all over the world, the 23rd Machining Innovations Conference for Aerospace Industry (MIC) took place on November 29 and 30, 2023. Following the decline in the number of participants - due to the coronavirus pandemic - this year's conference returned to the level of previous years.

Once again this year, the Manufacturing Innovations Network e.V. (MIN) and the Institute of Production Engineering and Machine Tools (IFW) at Leibniz Universität Hannover organized the traditional MIC conference. The high number of participants with international guests from Europe, Asia, America and Australia speaks for itself and illustrated the interest of participants from industry and science in an exchange at the conference sponsored by CIRP.

The MIC program met the high expectations of the visitors with a good mix of lectures from the industry and the presentation of research results. In addition, two exclusive guided tours of the IFW test field with live demonstrations provided an in-depth insight into current research projects. The thematic focus of the project presentations and demonstrations was on innovations in the digitalization of manufacturing processes and more sustainable production. The program was complemented by poster presentations of scientific contributions and an exhibition of industry representatives. A highlight of the conference was a high-caliber panel discussion with leading experts from science and industry on current developments and challenges in aerospace production technology.

"The inspiring and innovative presentations have once again made MIC 2023 a successful event! We are looking forward to the next MIC in February 2025," said Renke Brunken, Managing Director of the Machining Innovation Network and co-organizer of the event.

The IFW thanked all speakers and participants for the stimulating discussions and presentations. The date for the next MIC has already been set. The IFW is looking forward to welcoming numerous participants to the PZH again on February 5 and 6, 2025.
