Presentation on the automated repair of turbine blades at the CIRP CMS 2023 in South Africa

Sven Friebe presents the results of the automated repair of turbine blades at the CIRP CMS '23

Intensive research work pays off. We sent our Head of NC Simulation and Optimization Sven Friebe to the CIRP Conference on Manufacturing Systems in Cape Town. There Mr. Friebe presented the results of his research work on the topic of "Automated Repair of Turbine Blades", made important contacts and discussed the results with the expert audience.

The new method can significantly increase the degree of automation of repair processes. Repair processes make an important contribution towards a sustainable circular economy. The results originate from the Collaborative Research Center for the Regeneration of Complex Capital Goods and a resulting transfer project. In this ongoing project, the IFW investigates how the method developed can best be transferred in the industry. A big thank you therefore goes in particular to the two partners @MTU Maintenance and Aix Path as well as the German Research Foundation.

There, Mr. Friebe presented the results of his research work on the topic of "Automated Repair of Turbine Blades", made important contacts and discussed the results with the expert audience. "By attending the conference, I was able to gain a good overview of the current international research activities and make valuable contacts. I also learned a lot about the country of South Africa and the city of Cape Town," said Mr. Friebe after his trip.
